(North Bend, OR) - The Coos County Airport District is seeking public comments on future development alternatives at the Southwest Oregon Regional Airport (OTH) following a Master Plan Community Open House held September 16, 2026. The Master Plan process began in July 2025 and is around 60 percent complete. The current phase identifies future facility needs and evaluates alternatives for the airfield, terminal, general aviation, and airport support facilities.

Potential needs identified through the planning process include expanding the commercial apron, also referred to as the tarmac or ramp,  to accommodate two aircraft, additional hangar capacity, future terminal and parking improvements, and airfield improvements. The plan also evaluates alternatives forpotentially extending Runway 5/23 from its current 5,980 fee to 6,400 feet.

The alternatives presented are planning concepts and don't represent approved projects. Public input will be considered as the planning team works toward identifying a preferred alternative and developing an implementation plan.

Ardurra Group, LLC  has been contracted by the district to complete the project. A Project Advisory Committee is also involved with the project. The elements included in a plan that is normally completed every 5 to 10 years, is outlined by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). The most current plan for the district was completed in 2013.

Following the comment period, the planning team will continue to work on a preferred alternative, implementation plan, and draft Airport Layout Plan (ALP) and Master Plan Report. A third public meeting will take place in March 2027.
