Meynink and McMichael Selected to Assist with Airport Master Plan Vision

The Coos County Airport District (CCAD) Board of Commissioners has approved the appointment of named members to the Project Advisory Committee (PAC), an important stakeholder group that will help guide the Southwest Oregon Regional Airport’s (OTH) Master Plan update. The 10-year plan is a roadmap that will shape the airport’s development.

In August 2025, the Board approved the creation of the Project Advisory Committee for the Master Plan update. The committee establishes a framework for community and stakeholder engagement, including three public meetings, a project website, ongoing opportunities for public comment, and direct input from PAC members at key milestones.

Since the committee’s formation, airport staff have worked closely with local partners and organizations to confirm participation and nominate representatives. These stakeholders bring diverse perspectives from aviation, government, business, and the community to ensure a well-rounded and forward-thinking approach to airport planning.

In addition, the Board approved two representatives from the Airport Heights Neighborhood Park area, recognizing the importance of community voices in shaping the airport’s long-term vision.  John Meynink is a retired attorney and property owner who regularly attends CCAD  Board Meetings. Trish McMichael has been an Airport Heights resident for many years watching development of housing  and is a former business owner and current advisor at Southwestern Oregon Community College.

The committee will meet approximately three times over the course of the planning process to review findings, discuss alternatives, and provide feedback at key milestones. The first meeting is in January and will be led by Addura.

The Airport Master Plan will provide a strategic roadmap for the airport’s growth and operations over the next decade. Addura has been contracted to lead the development process. The current Master Plan, developed in 2013, is available on the Coos County Airport District’s website.

“The Planning Advisory Committee reflects the airport’s commitment to transparency, collaboration, and community involvement,” said Rodger Craddock, Executive Director of the Southwest Oregon Regional Airport. “The perspectives of our aviation partners, local jurisdictions, and neighborhood representatives will be instrumental in helping us plan responsibly for the airport’s future.”

The Master Plan update will identify future facility needs, safety and infrastructure priorities, and opportunities to enhance the airport’s role as an economic engine for Oregon’s South Coast. The first public meeting is anticipated later this year, and details will be announced on the airport’s website and social media channels.
