Memorial Day marks the kicks off the official travel season. The Southwest Oregon Regional Airport (OTH) is reminding travelers that flying local can make all the difference during the busiest travel weekend in nearly two decades. Nationally, AAA forecasted 3.61 million Americans will fly to their Memorial Day destinations—an increase of 1.8% over last year and a 12.3% jump compared to 2019. In Oregon alone, more than 64,000 residents are expected to travel by air. ThisMemorial Day weekend for air travel is the highest since 2005.

“Instead of navigating packed terminals and paying expensive parking fees at larger airports, travelers from our region can fly from North Bend with ease,” said Stephanie Kilmer, Public Information Officer of the Southwest Oregon Regional Airport. “With daily commercial flights connecting through SFO and DEN, our passengers can reach virtually any destination in the country—and do so without the stress.”
